The potential of economic development in the Kankakee River Valley is outstanding. The third airport site is being proposed to accommodate the overcrowding at the nearby Chicago airports. One of the Kankakee Regional Chamber of Commerce 's primary objectives is to work with all local agencies to develop the economy of the valley. They are working hand in hand with: the Kankakee Industrial Development Association, the Kankakee County Economic Development Association and local municipalities in promoting the entire River Valley Area.
