Tailgate Challenge '07 Sizzles

The “Grill Master” competition was heated up this year with 14 grilling teams fighting fearlessly for the champion title. The second annual Tailgate Challenge, which was held on Saturday, September 8, promised to be bigger and better than last year.  So we took it to the next level by adding a bags tournament, beer tasting and live music by Everyday People to the grilling competition.

Firing up the grills at 7:00 a.m. was no problem for our grilling team competitors.  The public was welcomed in at noon for the bags tournament, music and beer tasting.  The Tailgate Toss, sponsored by PersonalCare, kicked off a double elimination tournament where twenty teams were prepared for the steep competition. After two hours of tossing the winners were announced. Mike Palmateer and Bill Palmateer of “The Brothers” were awarded 1st place. Brian Strandquist and Brandon Udischas of “Straight In” came in 2nd and 3rd place went to Zach Curwick and Dustin Grace of “Grace’s Procut”.

America’s Bistro and Liquor World hosted the beer tasting.  The 14 delicious beers available to sample drew quite the crowd.
