What is your role at Provena St. Mary’s?

I am a Corporate Client Liaison for Provena St. Mary's Total Wellness Center.  My role entails representing the services of Occupational Health, Behavioral Health (including our Employee Assistance Program), Fitness Center (including our corporate fitness discount), and Rehabilitation Services (physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy) to new and existing corporate clients.  My objective is to cultivate relationships with any and all area businesses and their workforces.

What is the best part of your job?

I am always thrilled to meet new people.  I love this aspect of my job and it is truly what keeps it so motivating, exciting and challenging.  In addition, if I am able to find an opportunity for growth for either Provena St. Mary's or a client, it is exponentially rewarding.

As a woman in the Kankakee business community, what advice do you have for other women in the business world?

Well, I always find the gender-specific questions the toughest to answer.  As a woman in the Kankakee business community, I feel totally empowered to accomplish whatever I set my mind to, but I also know that many women, including myself, are also balancing their professional life with their family life...an even tougher feat when you have children.  For the women who are balancing a family and a business profession, I think my advice would be to just strive to do the best you can do.  It may sound corny, but I know that it can be challenging and sometimes emotionally taxing as you try to show your commitment, loyalty, and drive to your job/career and at the same time are striving to be 100% available to your kids/family.  It's my responsibility as a parent to nurture and educate my daughter, as well as to instill the values that I think are important, but I also know that my identity also encompasses feeling that I'm making a difference outside of my home.  The Provena network places a lot of value on its employees and their commitment to family, so I feel fortunate and proud to be part of an organization with such high ideals.

How did you get involved with the chamber?

I originally became involved with the Chamber through the recommendation of Provena St. Mary's administration.  It is the work that I do with the Chamber that has helped me to become more acquainted with our diverse and growing community and its area employers.  In addition, the Ambassadors have become the friends and connections that I find truly invaluable.

What is your favorite item on your desk at work?

My coffee cup (when it's not empty).  No really, the pictures of my daughter are my favorite items on my desk.
