Providing an opportunity for your
legislative voice to be heard

Legislative Reception 2007

The Kankakee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Kankakee County Farm Bureau welcomed legislative representatives and guests to the Legislative Reception on August 21.  The evening included dinner at the Kankakee Country Club followed by a chance for business and community leaders to let their legislative voices to be heard.  Each legislator or their designee was provided the opportunity to address a current legislative issue of importance to the River Valley business community.  Representatives from US Senator Barack Obama, US Senator Richard Durbin and Congressman Jerry Weller’s offices were available to field questions for the legislators along with Senate Majority Leader Debbie Halvorson, Representative Lisa Dugan and Representative Careen Gordon.

We realize the importance of consistent communication with our elected officials to ensure that the Chamber is actively working for the enhancement of the region.  We are proud to offer an opportunity for members of the community to let their legislative voices be heard.

In fact, we offer an active link off of the Chamber homepage, to the Illinois Chamber’s Grassroots Action Center.  This online legislative advocacy center makes it so easy for your business to stay involved with issues that are relevant to you.  It also saves you an enormous amount of time because key issues are researched and summarized for you!  If you would like more information about Grassroots Action Center or the Chamber’s Government Affairs committee, contact the Chamber today at (815) 933-7721.
