Impact of Maturing Workforce Conference
It comes as no surprise that the Baby Boomers are approaching retirement age. In the metropolitan Chicago region, 1.5 million or 39% of our workers are over 45 and 15% are over 55. In the coming years, a large number of individuals will leave the labor force. The question is, “What are we doing to prepare for their departure and who will take their place?”
The Workforce Boards
of Metropolitan Chicago in partnership with AARP Illinois, Central
States SER/Jobs for Progress, Human Resource Association of Greater Oak
Brook Chapter #0212, Northern Illinois SHRM Chapter #0328, Stateline
Society for Human Resources Chapter #0532, and Kankakee Area HRMA
Chapter #0399 are convening the Impact of a Maturing Workforce
conference on October 12, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The
conference will examine: · How the loss of a generation of workers will impact our regional economy; · What employers and educators should be doing to prepare for the loss of skilled, experienced workers; · How to determine the impact of a maturing workforce on your business’s future; and
·
Creative solutions for minimizing the impact. The conference will provide you the opportunity to learn from expert resources, exchange ideas and problem solve in small groups, and hear from employers that are attracting and retaining mature workers. Registration information and a detailed agenda are available at www.workforceboardsmetrochicago.com.
