Dedicated to the professional development of Kankakee regional
business women.
Women in Business has been in existence since 1983, formerly known as
the Working Women's Council. While acting in unity with the
mission of the Kankakee Regional Chamber, WIB strives to enhance
business partnerships and address the challenges of our Region's working
women by providing opportunities to make a difference both
professionally and personally through education, programs, networking
and business development.

This
diverse group of regional businesswomen meet month for a networking
luncheon at the Quality Inn in Bradley. These Lunch & Learn
meetings are typically held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from
12-1 p.m. Lunch & Learn meetings offer networking opportunities as
well as dynamic programming.

Programming topics have included: travel tips, dealing with depression,
budgeting and personal finance, health/nutrition needs for women,
gardening and aromatherapy. Past guest speakers have included:
professional organizer, Karen McGregor; KCC Athletic Director and
retired professional football player with two super bowl rings, Ted
Petersen; 2009 ATHENA Award recipient, Beth Brosseau; and Director of
Illinois Veteran's Affairs, Tammy Duckworth.

Each
year Women in Business present the annual Women in Business Seminar.
This is a full day program held at Olivet Nazarene University and gives
over 480 professional area women the chance to get together and
celebrate working women. The event is highlighted with over 60
vendor booths, incredible networking, the presentation of the ATHENA
Award (pictured at the left) and Anita Grand Scholarships and of course,
a phenomenal motivational speaker.
