Just
60 minutes from downtown Chicago, the Kankakee River
Valley is a region of extensive natural resources, prime
agricultural land, an opportunity-laden business and
industrial environment, and unlimited recreational
adventures. This is "home, " our quality of
life, where 102,000 of us live, work, and play!
Kankakee County is made up of 19 municipalities (two
cities and 17 villages), located within 17 townships.
The
central area of the county, comprised of Kankakee,
Bradley, and Bourbonnais, is our largest pocket of
population, with over 52,300 residents. Over the past five
years, however, there has been a strong, steady surge of
growth in the outlying communities of Manteno, Aroma Park,
and Momence, as well as in Limestone Township.
